Description
In August 1948, 545 passengers boarded the SS Derna in Marseilles to face an uncertain future in Australia and New Zealand. They came from displaced persons camps in Germany, death camps in Poland, labor camps in Hungary, gulags in Siberia and stony Aegean islands. Diane Armstrong set sail on the Derna with her partents when she was nine years old. She managed to locate over a hundred of the passengers and has managed to recreate the voyage and trace their future lives.
