In 1830s Canada, a thirteen-year-old Cree girl journeys westward from York Factory to the Red River valley, lured by a Norfolk trotter horse and determined to find her Scottish fur trader father.
A young girl and her grandfather restore and repaint a carousel horse. In repainting the carousel horse, they reminisce about her grandmother and paint pictures on the horse reminding them of events in her grandmother's life.
